Memorial Day Weekend

Memorial Day Weekend! 3 days of fun, relaxing and a weather report of nothing but sun and calm seas!

We headed off with Chris, Sarah and Jacob for an overnight Sunday - Monday trip. They had reserved the Decision Point cabin, so off we headed in that direction.

Lunch was first on the activity list once we arrived at the cabin.

Sam was a little too excited and had eaten too fast? We saw his lunch again. It was pretty funny, he never missed a beat! Thank goodness he got sick outside and that we had a large tub for getting clean-up water from the cove!

Sarah brought some yummy wine!

Love you!

Zach loves the beach! Lots of rocks to throw!

Doug's new Event Horizon stickers look really nice on the boat.

This rock looks just like Illinois!

There were MANY light saber battles fought at the cabin and in the woods! The kids will be sleeping well tonight!

Good times around the campfire!

Zach slept with Chris, Sarah and Jacob in the cabin. Sammy had the bed all to himself. He snuggled under the new blankets that Mema made and sent and went to sleep quickly! Mema had purchased the "crew" fabric when Doug was little and was going to make a shirt for him. The fabric never got used, so the next generation "crew" got two great blankets made with the fabric! Thanks Mema!
Good morning!

Time to get the shrimp pots up!

Doug used a pulley and the Zodiac to pull the pots most of the way out of the water. A little mechanical advantage is always a good thing!
We then anchored at a nearby beach and laid in the hot, hot sun on the nice warm rocks. We could have laid there all day, what a shame the weekend is coming to an end.

50 shrimp for dinner after we got everything cleaned up! A fun weekend with great friends.

Otter Pops

Zach and Sam watched all the boat preparation work from the front porch as they enjoyed an Otter Popsicle. Zach also has Otter Pops at camp, so thought I was pretty cool when I had also picked up a box of them. They were on sale at Carrs, in a large display at the front of the store......most of Anchorage probably has a box of them!

Note: Look at Sam's shoes. What is it with little kids? There is a 50/50 chance to get them on the correct feet. He seems to be following his big brother....more of a 80/20 that they will be on the wrong feet!

Getting Ready for the Weekend

We are going out Sunday - Monday. It was nice to have today to get some projects done on the boat. As it is a boat, there are ALWAYS projects to be done. Doug flushed and filled the water tank, put up a fishing pole holder, put the boat name stickers on the back and we loaded it for this weekend. Let's hope the weekend is as beautiful as today!

A Day with Mom

It has been a very busy past couple of weeks at work with auditors and visitors from Denver. This week was catch-up week and many people were starting the long weekend by taking Friday off. The weather is beautiful, I think I will take Friday off too. Zach was somewhat disappointed that he wouldn't be going to camp as Fridays are "bring your bike and helmet days". His friends, Nora, Camden, Eli & Reed were also going to be there in the morning for open gym.

We decided that we would go to open gym from 9-11 am to see everyone. Laurie had a morning conflict, so Zach and I picked up Nora and headed off to the gym.

I realized today that I am getting older, it was actually a pretty depressing realization. I just can't bounce on the trampoline like I use to be able to.

It was fun to have some time to catch up with Teryl.

Nora had a good time.

Laurie was hoping to bring Lake about 10 am or so for the final hour. She got further delayed waiting at home for a delivery, so when open session ended Nora went with Zach and I to McDonald's for lunch. After we dropped Nora off, Zach and I ran a few errands and then got home in time to see Monica who was at the house today. We sat and watched a few cartoons until Doug and Sam got home; it felt really good to relax. Zach and I had a good day together.

I am in the Army!

While cleaning out a kitchen cabinet, we came across a MRE (Meal Ready to Eat). Doug and Zach decided to be Army men tonight and have purple grape juice from powder, beef steak, Mexican rice and a Tootsie Roll. Does dinner get any better than that? It was pretty impressive what the self contained kit had in it.

"Nack!"

Somehow I am associated with a "nack" (snack). Sam will throw a fit in the car on the way home if I don't have something for him as a "nack". For my own sanity I make sure to have a banana or veggie chips in the car for the ride home! You would think they don't feed him at school during the day - what a bottomless pit!

Water Slide at Camp

The note at camp said "bring your swimsuit and a towel tomorrow"! Very fun - a water day in the parking lot. They had a really nice inflatable slide set up. The only thing Zach had to say negative about it was that the water was cold. I bet it was as the water was straight out of a garden hose!

An Evening with the Leonards

Chris, Sarah and Jacob are going boating with us this weekend. They came over on Wednesday for a "planning meeting" for the weekend. Really, just an excuse to get together for dinner, a beer and to chat while the kids have a good time. Several people at work kept telling us that our friends would be our kid's parents. We sure hope everyone Zach meets has awesome parents like Chris and Sarah!

Beautiful Night

It was a great evening for a ride around the neighborhood.

Alaskans eat more ice cream per person than anywhere else in the US! We do our part!

Conference Room Visitor

No conference room in Alaska would be complete without a bear skin on the table! Robert picked up at the taxidermist the bear skin he dropped off 18 months ago. It is beautiful!
