Shelf Construction

This past summer Doug had helped with the demolition of a computer room at the building that Zach's school moved into. The computer room work stations were made of a Corian counter top. Doug and a few other guys took a few of the pieces; no sense in throwing that expensive material in the dumpster! Doug used one on his work bench in the garage. We are probably the only garage in the neighborhood to have a Corian workbench! The second piece was for a shelf above the washer and dryer. Doug and his Dad didn't have time this summer to get that project done, so the counter has sat next to the dryer for past 6 months!

Doug got inspired tonight and got the washer and dryer pulled out and the shelf brackets installed. Only 1 late night run to Lowe's was needed, so a good project! It turned out really well!

Thanksgiving #2

For as much self control as we had at Chris and Sarah's to not stuff ourselves, we had as much of a lack of control at Guy and Gloria's. We all ate until we were uncomfortable! Great food! Thanks so much for inviting us! The kids all played with i-pods and i-phones and were nice and quiet when they got sucked in. Sam didn't have an i-pod to play with and let us know it. He ended up playing with my locked Blackberry, but pushed the buttons on it until it freaked out and wanted its owner back. Thank goodness I was able to fix it, I didn't want to have to explain that one to the IT folks tomorrow!

Guy and Gloria are amazing cooks!

Ian took a beating from Sam tonight. He was so good about playing with him; Sam was a little rough!

Toward the end of the evening Sam was getting tired and was upset that "his" phone had been taken away.

Cecile and Gloria, Dustin's Mom.

A happy birthday pumpkin pie for Dustin. Thanks for a great time!

Mom Power!

The kids slept in, but then woke up with an incredible amount of energy! I saw on Doug's phone that Sarah had sent a message about meeting at Service High School for some sledding. We are up for it; see you there! It was Mom Power - Sarah and I went up and down the hill multiple times. It was some good exercise!

Adults Only! Dustin Turns 35

Cecile planned a surprise party for Dustin tonight. He was going skiing with Matt and Brad and would be back around 7 pm. It was to be an adult only party - leave the kiddos at home with a sitter! It was fun to have an adults night out! I (aka the "responsible parent tonight") drove us over to the party and parked a block away.

Myra, Cecile, me! I had not noticed on the e-vite that we were to dress in 70's style!

Cecile looked at Erin, who also was not in 70's attire, and me. She moved us into her room and dressed us in some items she had or had purchased while trying to decide what she was going to wear! Now we are ready for a party!

The wait was on!

Dustin suspected something was up when he came home to a dark house. He saw the "disco" decorations and had a bit of a nervous laugh! He was excited to see everyone there.

Cecile and "Sparkle" Sarah all dressed up for the party.

A toast to Dustin! The big 35!

Happy Birthday!

Dustin and Doug.

Renee and Doug having a good time and not chasing any kids tonight!

Aliki, me, "Sparkle" Sarah, Cecile & Erin. Aliki and Alex are getting married in Thessaloniki, Greece in July. It was fun to hear about all their upcoming plans. Laurie, Karl and I had fun talking about our adventures with Dustin and Cecile's wedding 10 years ago.

The girls! Onni, Aliki, Myra, me, Laurie, Cecile, "Sparkle" Sarah, Erin and Sarah.

The guys! Brad, Karl, Mel, Dustin, Matt, Doug, Enric, Tom and Alex.

The guys line-up quickly deteriorated into some type of sexy dance. Oh my goodness, it was funny!

The responsible parent returned home by 10 pm to rescue Jasmine. Zach and Sam had a good time with her. They watched the Marmaduke movie and played with Play-dough. Thanks Jasmine for baby sitting tonight so that we could have some adult time! Alleke and Alex dropped Doug off at home sometime after 2 am, it has been a long time since either of us has been up at that time of the day!

Thanksgiving "Megamind"

Sarah had mentioned that when she was growing up the kids would always go to a movie after dinner and the adults would stay at home, talk and have dessert and a glass of wine in peace. We thought the idea was great, but Zach didn't think he was quite ready to drive all the kids. He thought that we should go with.

The car was brushed off and we all piled in to head on over to the movie, Megamind. It was showing in 3D at the Dimond theater today! It was a great way to end a fun day!

As we left the theater at 6 pm, the line was starting to form at Best Buy for those who are die hards and will be sleeping outside all night to get the best deals in the morning. No thank you, we will be sleeping in our warm bed tonight and not getting up any too early in the morning!

As we were driving home, I kept waiting for "the question". It came from Zach. "What is for dinner?" Doug and I were thinking about not eating again until Thanksgiving on Sunday at Guy and Gloria's, but Zach was ready for some pizza when we got home!

Over the Hills and Through the Woods

Over the hills and through the woods to the Leonard's house we go! There are two large up and down hills on Our Road that we take to get to the Leonard's. It was like a roller coaster today; we had a great time yelling and putting our arms up as if we were on a roller coaster! At the Huntman's even getting somewhere can be a fun adventure.

Sam immediately went for the appetizers when we arrived at Chris, Sarah & Jacob's house. He sat all by himself with a plate of goodies while the rest of the dinner was being finished.

The turkey had been the source of much talk this week. Sarah had ordered a free range, all organic turkey from Triple D farm in Palmer. Then the weather got bad and she wasn't sure if her friend or her would be able to get the turkey. So, Sarah went to Mr. Prime Beef to get a "back-up turkey". Well, she ended up with 2 large turkeys; we know what the Leonard's will be eating for the rest of the year.

We went around the table and told what we are thankful for. Then a toast and dig in! The food was SO good.

Zach, Sam & Jacob had a good time playing with musical instruments, Legos, cars - there was no lack of fun things to play with.

Jacob sure likes to play with Sam. We offered to leave Sam for a few days to see if he still felt that way after days of being shadowed. We didn't have any takers.

Mr. Turkey made a visit for a few fun family photos!

Jacob and Zach.

Chris, Sarah & Jacob. Now....it is time for some dessert!
