Snow Fort!
The snow is deep and hard so Zach and Grandpa got busy when they got home today after school and starting tunneling. Very fun snow fort!

Official Birthday!
Happy Birthday Sam!! You are officially 4!
Uncle Fred, Aunt Lisa, Burton and Max sent a very fun Hallabaloo game and a rocket stomper! Very fun! Sam had fun opening the presents and then Zach and Sam got busy playing with the new fun toys!

Snow Berms
We are running out of space in our yard to put the snow from the driveway! In Anchorage, we are now 12 inches from the most snow in a single winter!
Denver to Seattle
Doug and his Dad took off from Denver yesterday on their adventure to Seattle. The weather wasn't predicted to be very good today, but as they drove the day got nicer and nicer!
Sliding Down!
The metal roof on our Anchorage shop warehouse is shedding some ice/snow. It just hangs in there....we all keep waiting for it to fall! If it falls at night when no one is here, does it still make noise?

The "Secret" Journey Begins
Doug was heading off to Madison, Wisconsin for a training class on Landfill Designs. What we all knew, but Doug's sister and brother-in-law didn't, is that Doug had bought a Volvo XC70 in Naperville, Illinois and a T@B camper in Lake Geneva, Wisconsin. He is going to drive them back to Alaska to sell and hopefully make a few dollars for his boat projects! After his class ended on Friday, he was going to head out to drive to Colorado and surprise his sister!
Sam from the dealership met Doug at the airport with the car. Very nice!

HAL Academy Awards
Tonight was the final dinner and awards banquet. There would be some very talented sales people and managers recognized! We were all to wear our "countries best attire" for the event.
The Alaska representatives.......Robert and I. We are part of the Northern US Region and there was a whole bunch of us dressed like this!
Left to Right: Fredy Lugo (Drilling Bits, Venezuela), me, a girl from Nigeria, Fredy's co-worker from Venezuela. Fredy and I were on the same team in the group exercise yesterday.
The Egyptians were easy to spot!
There were 3 girls from Kazakhstan who would have won the best attire award if there had been one....they were so beautiful!
Jim Prestidge, HSE/SQ VP; Christina from Legal who I knew at Landmark and me. Christina and I had boys at the same time in 2004.
Chris Homer, London BG Account Representative. Friend from Landmark days and Chris was on the same group challenge as me yesterday.
Duncan Junor - also from my Landmark days.
Abdulrhman Almogpeel, Project Management in Saudi Arabia. Robert and I got to talking to him the first day at the welcome reception. Abdulrhman and I then talked about 40 minutes yesterday at a reception....very interesting. Glad I am not a woman in Saudi. He was talking that he was getting married this summer.....pre-arranged marriage and he has never seen the girl, she is basically for having children and "maybe love will come later", she is a teacher so educated but not allowed to drive in Saudi. Such freedoms I have!!
The guys from the Drilling Bits Product Line were so funny in these "drilling bit hats".
It wasn't hard to spot who is from Norway!
Girl from Nigeria; Tanja from Nigeria and me. I had sat with Tanja Mojsin and her friend, Dana, a few day at various events. Tanja is from Perth, Australia and has been in Nigeria for about 2 years. Her husband works for Chevron and was transferred there, she is hoping that job assignment will end soon as Nigeria isn't a great place to live! When Tanja moved from Perth, a guy I worked with in Alaska took her place....small world!
With Christian Garcia, Sr. VP of Finance, who I knew from the Landmark days.
With Andrea Passman, Denver. Andrea grew up in Alaska, so had lots to talk about. She is working on a large development project in Alaska. Fun gal!
Monica Baistrocchi and me. Monica is my counterpart; she lives in Italy and is responsible for Italy and the rest of Continental Europe. She hadn't been too excited to be dressed as a German, but she looked great and was having fun!
Abrar Al-Ansari from Saudi Arabia. Robert and I had sat with Abrar and another girl from Saudi Arabia on the first day at lunch. Both girls were so nice and spoke such good English. They had been shopping and told us all about their 2 days at the outlet malls!
Gordon Stone is the Northern Region IT Manager in Denver, so we have seen him a few times in Alaska. I knew Gordon from my Landmark days as he was Landmark IT at the time.
We were waiting for the doors to open to the large room and Robert was helping this girl hold a wide selection of beers she had. I never did determine why she had so many, but she was quite fun. She is in sales and won one of the large awards tonight for sales.
We all sat with our groups.....steak & shrimp. The food was awesome!
The evening started with a multi-media display with a rotating globe and then the countries that were present would show up with representatives pictures. If you were from that country you would hoot and yell when your country appeared. With nearly 70 countries represented in the room, it was incredible. I was sitting next to Robert and he leaned over and said "doesn't this make you proud to work for such a great company?" I couldn't have said it better! Tanzania is in the picture above.
