Sam is able to walk 4 short blocks to Goldenview Middle School from our house. It IS Alaska, so it is cold and dark when he is walking. Sam was wearing a dark colored coat and I didn't like that cars would have a hard time seeing him when he was crossing the street. I had him start wearing his hi-vis coat from the summer projects and low and behold, he liked the idea! Sam got a few stares his first day wearing the coat, and I think that his teacher asked if he was in construction, but two weeks later he is still wearing it and I am able to see him walking from two blocks away!
